"How can a person be successful?" Some might say failure is the key to success, others might say practice is. But are the only things you need to be successful? They are, in fact, just a factor you need to be successful. A step of the many steps towards success. The path to success is different for everyone, but you will need to achieve a lot before you can be successful. You can achieve great things, but you will need to sacrifice a lot to get to it. But if you already decided that you are and will be satisfied when you achieve your target, you will need to know what to do to be able to achieve it. Confidence is almost required for everything. Whether your target is being a movie star or just to present a speech to your class, you need to be brave. You need to be confident.
As you may know, we can be confident. In fact, you are being brave even when you do daily tasks. The problem is that in some situations, it is easier said that done. But once you tried it, you will realize that it is not as scary as you thought. But to be able to do it in the first place, you need confidence. Some things require more confidence than others, such as public speaking (which is essential for education and showing yourself - proving your worth), performing for others and standing up to others, etc.
Being confident can come across as a phobia for some people. This is very common across introverts and less proclaimed people. If you are one of these, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about. A phobia can be helped. But never can it be fully recoverable. Confidence isn't something to be afraid of, it is something most people need to face and understand. Confidence is risk. You are at risk when being confident. But that's okay. There are some people out there who have no problem with being judged, they are the most confident of all. But remember, everyone has their own fears. Here are 5 steps to being confident:
1. The first step you need to learn is questioning. Why are others more confident than I am? Observe other confident people and see what they do differently compared to you. You need to know why they're confident in the first place. Some just don't really care what others think of them. But go ahead, ask them.
2. Relaxing. Some people get really nervous when facing fears and confidence is very hard to become when shaking. One common fear is presenting speeches. Take a rest and breathe in, just shut your eyes and relax. This is how confident people feel all the time.
*3. Try walking around and talking to people you aren't familiar with. This is the first step of testing yourself. Some people might just give up on this step. But if you have to the courage to try it for the first time, you will realize that it isn't as scary as you thought. People are people. They aren't gods, they will not banish you if you do something wrong. Fears are overestimated by most. This is what blocks them from trying to recover.
4. Try facing your fear. Wether it is public speaking or simply just talking to someone you don't really want to upset, just go for it. You won't know unless you try. Look how we're saying 'try' instead of Do This, Do That. Force isn't going to help. Your heart must be set onto overcoming your fear of confidence.
5. How was step 4? It doesn't matter what happened! YOU WERE CONFIDENT. You had the confidence to do it. Therefore you have now successfully been confident. Wasn't that hard was it? To be honest, you've been confident this entire time. If you remember, step 3 required you to talk to strangers. And you did it! Well done!
*P.S. Don't talk to random strangers. Maybe someone from your school. Be alert, stranger danger!
