    Heavy Metal, Heavy Noise?

What comes to your mind when you read these 3 words - Hardcore Heavy Metal. You may not like this genre or you may love it like me, either way these 3 words have helped me a lot in a variety of situations.

Anyway, when you read these 3 words what comes to your mind? Noise, Screaming, Demonic Headbanging? etc. Heavy Metal is often criticised by a lot of people calling it just 'noise' and 'screaming'. Well I beg to differ. Yes, lyrics often include various swear words and anger, aggression and hitting high, rough notes. But it isn't just 'noise'. Heavy Metal, just like rap has lyrics that are aimed at people's problems, and psychological issues. Heavy Metal bands generally talk about these issues in an aggressive way hitting a lot of low and high notes, creating a blend of both. This 'blend' actually allows you to experience so many moods at once. Their lyrics are often aimed at overpowering these things that take control of you which include a lot of disorders, sadnesses and pain. For example - One of Slipknot's most recent songs titled 'Devil in I' talks about how the 'Devil' in you, which can be literally anything you're afraid of, a reality you're hiding from etc. It's really aggressive in its opinion against and (again) has a blend of a really calm voice and an aggressive one talking about getting rid of it.

Wether you change your opinion or not, it doesn't matter to me... but, calling it 'noise' without actually understanding it, is wrong.
